Kaduna State and LGA Awards

May 14, 2024

In July 2023, the All Babies program expanded into Kaduna. The program is active in 753 clinics across six of Kaduna’s 23 LGAs. It is a privilege to partner with Kaduna State in order to incentivize and promote childhood vaccinations.  As of May 2024, we have enrolled 116,000 infants from Kaduna in our program.

In 2023, NI-ABAE began holding State and LGA Award ceremonies in appreciation of our partners' achievements in increasing childhood immunization rates and saving lives. In May 2024, NI-ABAE staff and stakeholders, including the Executive Secretary State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Representative of the Commissioner for Health,  traditional leaders and representatives from state agencies, gathered in Ras Event Palace, Zaria, Kaduna, to present ₦150,000 awards in five categories to Kaduna’s highest-performing LGAs:

  • Kudan LGA received the Enrollments Award for its 9,613 enrollments, which constituted the highest percentage uptake of infants enrolled in Kaduna.
  • Kudan LGA also received the Vaccine Supply Award because it had the lowest ratio of vaccine stockouts in comparison to disbursement sessions.
  • As an LGA with a stellar record of infants returning for Penta 1 (90%), Penta 2 (86%), Penta 3 (81%), Makarfa LGA was given the Penta Retention Rate Award.
  • The Documentation Award went to Sabon Gari LGA, the LGA with the lowest percentage of issues identified in 2023.
  • Ikara LGA was presented the Activities Award for conducting the highest number of community activities in the state: a total of 314, comprising 99 awareness activities and 215 outreaches and campaigns.

In addition, this year’s Best NI-ABAE Manager Award of ₦30,000 was given to Job Samuel, who supported the LGA by significantly improving his team’s overall performance, as demonstrated by an increase in enrollments of 149%.

We look forward to hosting this State and LGA award event annually and fostering healthy competition as we work toward increasing vaccination rates and reducing zero-dose children in Kaduna State.
